L.A. police deny foul play report in Elisa Lam case
By JEREMY NUTTALL, QMI AGENCY

Missing Vancouver tourist Elisa Lam is pictured in this undated Los Angeles police handout photo.

Speculation over the mysterious fate of Vancouver student Elisa Lam took a bizarre turn Monday as Los Angeles police denied reports they had ruled out foul play in her death.

Vancouver media reports quoted an LAPD detective saying Lam, 21, was not murdered, but the department’s media relations unit refuted the story.

“It’s wrong information,” said LAPD media relations officer Cleon Joseph. “We haven’t put anything out about homicide or not homicide yet. We have no official result from the coroner yet.”

Lam was vacationing in L.A. at the end of January and was last seen alive in the Cecil Hotel on Jan. 31.
