GRAND PRAIRIE, ALTA. - Brenden Holubowich, 23, was sentenced to three years in prison, followed by a three year driving ban for the October 2011 crash that killed four Grande Prairie teens and injured a fifth.

Holubowich was convicted Tuesday of four counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm in the fatal collision that took the lives of Matthew Deller, 16, Walter Borden-Wilkins, 16, Tanner Hildebrand, 15, Vincent Stover, 16, and seriously injured Zach Judd, now 17.

In an agreed statement of facts read out by Neustaeter, court heard that on Oct. 21, 2011 around 6:30 p.m. Holubowich went to a local bowling alley with some co-workers and consumed food and alcohol.

He left at 11:40 p.m. to drive a friend home and dropped him off of at 11:50 p.m.

After talking to the friend’s girlfriend, who noted he did not appear to be intoxicated, he got into his truck and he headed for his home in Wembley, about 20 kilometres west of Grande Prairie.
