LONDON, Ont. -- A man is in custody and his ex-girlfriend reeling after her cremated baby's ashes were dumped in a toilet during their tumultuous breakup.
According to court records, Alexander Douglas William, 23, is charged with interference with human remains and committing an indignity to a dead body, among other offences.
"I (was) crying and screaming, 'Where's my baby? Where's my baby?'" Ashley Dawdy recalled Tuesday. "It's sick. I don't know who does that."
Kayson was born Feb. 25, 2007, and died three months later, on May 20, from what Dawdy attributes to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
Dawdy returned to her basement apartment one day in early February to find her son's urn open and ashes floating in the nearby toilet.
It was while she was broken up with her longtime partner that she met a new guy she dated for about three months. Once she reconnected with her sons' father, she ended things with him.
