SIMCOE, ONT. - A teen who viciously attacked a woman and her young son in their home was given an eight-year sentence on Tuesday — but he’s not headed to jail.

Court heard how the youth, 17 at the time, threatened the woman with a hunting knife at her home, cracked her skull, stabbed her, sexually assaulted her, then tied her to a bedpost and set the room on fire with her five-year-old son on the floor beside her.

The two barely escaped the burning home only to have the teen try to drag them back inside.
