Magnotta hearing draws fans out of the woodwork

MONTREAL -- As Luka Rocco Magnotta stood up in court to return to his isolation cell Monday, he waved a shackled hand at a young man who's a dead ringer for the alleged body-parts killer.

Magnotta's doppelganger calls himself Kyle and says he's a "supporter" who drove 1,400 km from Raleigh, N.C., to attend the Toronto native's preliminary hearing.

Kyle has been a front-row regular in the public gallery for all six days of the hearing.

He makes no apologies for his interest in Canada's most infamous murder defendant.

"I wanted to see him in person," Kyle said.

The former porn actor's arrest for the murder and dismemberment of Chinese student Jun Lin last May doesn't faze his admirer.

"I'm aware of public opinion ... even with that being said, I still support him," said Kyle, who won't give his last name or his profession. "Those types of things that he's accused of must be very traumatic for him."
