SARNIA, Ont. — A 24-year-old man is accused of punching a pregnant woman in the stomach and face, assaulting her boyfriend, and assaulting and threatening his own girlfriend after he was asked to leave a St. Patrick's Day house party.

Police say the suspect was hiding in a closet behind a Christmas tree at another house when officers tracked him down Tuesday morning.

Police say the suspect was asked to leave the party when he started acting strange.

He allegedly became agitated at that point and said he was going to take some booze that belonged to someone else.

When others told him he couldn’t, he pounced on a 23-year-old pregnant woman and punched her in the stomach and face, and then threw her boyfriend to the ground when he came to her aid, police said.

The pregnant woman took a cellphone into the washroom and called 911 while the suspect allegedly held a knife to her boyfriend's throat and threatened to kill him.

Police say the suspect’s girlfriend tried to step in at that point but he allegedly pushed her to the wall, held the knife to her throat and repeated several times that he would kill her.

Police say the suspect let his girlfriend go, waved the knife around and said everyone was going to die before he dropped the weapon and left.

Witnesses told police the suspect returned and made one more attempt to take the alcohol before leaving again empty-handed.

Nobody was seriously injured, police said.

Travis Wesley Gordon, 24, of Sarnia, is charged with assault, assault with a weapon, uttering death threats, possession of a dangerous weapon and mischief.
