TORONTO -- A 56-year-old man who teaches special needs children in Scarborough faces charges of sexual assault and assault involving two young boys.

Police said Tuesday that the man is alleged to have sexually assaulted a 12-year-old boy at a home in Scarborough between Sept. 4, 2012, and March 7. He is also alleged to have assaulted another 12-year-old boy at the same home over the same time period.

Kearsley Peters was arrested March 7 and charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation, sexual interference and assault.

He is a teacher at White Haven Junior Public School.

Const. Tony Vella said the accused was not known to police. The house mentioned in the allegations does not belong to the victims or the accused, he said.

Peters remains suspended with pay, TDSB legal counsel Grant Bowers confirmed Tuesday afternoon.
