A 78-year-old doctor already accused of sexually assaulting a young female patient is now facing further charges.

Toronto Police say the new charges stem from similar allegations that have been made since the elderly medical practitioner’s arrest was publicized two weeks ago.

“After the news release was issued, several women came forward,” police said Tuesday.

Detectives from 14 Division began investigating Arturo Sanchez after a girl claimed she was sexually assaulted in February during a medical exam in his office at 474 College St.

The doctor was arrested March 21 and charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation and sexual interference. He was subsequently released on bail.

Another six patients have since come forward to police.

Sanchez was re-arrested Tuesday and charged with four counts of sexual assault, three counts of sexual exploitation, two counts of sexual interference and five counts of indecent assault.
