TORONTO — The woman accused of throwing a drink at Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is out of legal hot water.
An assault charge against Shannon Everett was dropped Friday.
Everett was charged after Ford claimed he was hit with juice at the Taste of Little Italy festival on June 15.
The Crown told court the complainant in the case -- the mayor -- didn’t wish to proceed with the case.
Everett made a charitable donation to the CAMH Foundation ahead of the charge being withdrawn.
Outside court, Everett’s lawyer, Marie Henein, said the Crown made the “reasonable and appropriate” decision.
Everett read a statement thanking those who supported her throughout the ordeal.
“I’m just glad that it is over and I can put this behind me,” Everett said.
“Being accused of a crime by the mayor of this city has been an awful experience.”
Everett maintains she didn’t throw her drink -- organic peach juice sweetened with maple syrup -- at Ford that day.
