WINNIPEG -- A judge adjourned sentencing Monday for a nanny who stole more than $160,000 from the family of late Court of Queen's Bench Justice John Scurfield, saying he was not yet convinced a joint recommendation for a conditional sentence was in the best interest of justice. Kelly Zaborowicz, 42, previously pleaded guilty to one count of theft over $5,000. Judge Larry Allen asked Crown and defence lawyers for additional submissions and case law supporting house arrest "for a breach of trust of this magnitude." Zaborowicz was hired as a housekeeper and nanny for Scurfield's family in July 2008, shortly after Scurfield was diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma. Scurfield died in November 2009 at age 57.
