TORONTO — A man in his 30s is believed to have killed a woman and then jumped to his death from the 14th story of his apartment building mere moments later, Toronto Police said Friday.
Homicide detectives and forensic investigators spent Friday trying to piece together facts on what they say appears to be murder-suicide at a Toronto Community Housing Corporation building.
Neighbours heard fighting just before 7:30 a.m. from a apartment 14th floor and called 911, police said. When police arrived, they found a grisly scene with a bloody apartment and two dead bodies.
"At this point in time it does appear to be a murder-suicide," said Det. Sgt. Hank Idsinga. "We're not looking for any outstanding suspects or outstanding parties. Hopefully, the investigation will bear that out."
Police were working Friday to confirm the relationship of the two, but neighbours on the scene said the pair were a couple.
Neighbours saw the man, who police have not yet identified, in the hall with the woman on the hallway floor who had suffered multiple stab wounds. The man then went back inside the apartment and jumped from the 14th floor apartment balcony, Idsinga said.
