EDMONTON — A 19-year-old is charged with manslaughter after a bouncer was killed while breaking up a bar fight in Stony Plain, Alta., last weekend, RCMP said.

Police said Travis Colby, 30, was struck in the head by the patron while he was breaking up a fight outside the Old Bar at the Stony Plain Hotel early Saturday. Colby fell to the ground after he was struck unconscious. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Colby had worked part-time at the bar as a second job for at least three years and has two young children.

A memorial is scheduled for Monday.

Sean Steven Kovacs-Harkins, of Spruce Grove, is charged with manslaughter.

He has been released from custody on $3,000 cash bail, and will appear in court Wednesday.
