TORONTO - Mayor Rob Ford’s associate and part-time driver allegedly offered marijuana in an attempt to retrieve the civic leader’s stolen cellphone.
Alexander ‘Sandro’ Lisi was arrested on drug charges on Oct. 1 as he left Richview Cleaners in Etobicoke.
But according to a police document, Lisi was part of a months-long Toronto Police operation dubbed “Brazen 2” which spun out of the high-profile Project Traveller gang investigation.
“Lisi was heard to be brokering the return of a cellular phone stolen from an associate of his, with a payment of marijuana,” the document says.
A source has confirmed to QMI Agency that the phone Lisi was trying to retrieve belonged to the mayor, who had it stolen from him earlier that week.
The document says the operation that culminated in Lisi’s arrest was headed up by veteran homicide investigator Det.-Sgt. Gary Giroux.
Reached last night shortly after he returned from a trip to Texas, Ford said he didn't know much about the allegations.
"I don't want to talk about it tonight. I just got here. I just don't really know much about it," said the civic leader.
