EDMONTON - A high-risk offender who cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet and took off from Edmonton last week is believed to be in the Lethbridge area.
Michael Sean Stanley left Edmonton on Oct. 1, even though he has conditions to remain in the city.
Police managed to trace him near Lloydminster and notified the RCMP to move in and intercept Stanley. But they were too late. He was able to cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet, which was found on the roof of a local business, sparking a multi-province search. Edmonton police have received numerous tips and unconfirmed sightings of Stanley throughout western Canada, some as far away as Winnipeg.
His purple, Chevrolet Blazer was seized from a home in Lethbridge Monday. Police said he has ties in the area and believe he may be moving south to the border.
