MONTREAL — When Katee Melancon's car was looted on the weekend, robbers made off with items including the ashes of her brother, killed in a recent car crash.

The grieving 22-year-old has turned to the media to appeal to the robbers' conscience.

In a bid to find the stolen items, Melancon published an ad on Facebook that was shared 34,000 times in three days.

She lost her brother Jeff on New Year's Eve 2012, a month after her grandfather died.

Not only were her brother's ashes stolen, so was a computer filled with pictures of the dead man.

"It's as if my brother's been taken from me a second time," Melancon told QMI Agency. "The people who stole what was left of him have no clue how they've destroyed my life."
