TORONTO - Toronto Police have made an arrest in the 2009 slaying of Christopher Skinner and will release more details Thursday morning.

A press conference is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at police headquarters.

Police made an appeal to the public on Oct. 18, the four-year anniversary of the night Skinner was beaten up then run over by an SUV. They announced at the time investigators identified the make, model, year range and colour scheme of the SUV involved.

Skinner, 27, was walking home from the Entertainment District after celebrating his sister's birthday when his life was cut short around 3 a.m.

Having viewed video footage from area surveillance cameras, police believe Skinner was trying to hail a taxi when he "inadvertently" brushed up against a black SUV at Adelaide and Victoria Sts.

A group of assailants jumped out and attacked him.

"He was assaulted, kicked and knocked to the ground," Gallant said last month. "As he lay on the ground, the occupants returned to the SUV and the driver, without hesitation, deliberately drove over (him)."

Investigators have been trying ever since to identify the driver and occupants, but they've had little luck until now.
