CALGARY - What began as a night celebrating a friendís return to Calgary ended hours later with him losing his life.
Now family of Lukas Strasser are mourning the 18-year-oldís tragic death after police said he was fatally assaulted, apparently swarmed by a group of people outside a downtown bar early Saturday.
Friday was supposed to be a night to welcome Strasser home from a year attending school in Bolivia, but instead in the early morning hours of Saturday turned into tragedy when he was apparently the victim of a deadly attack in the 200 block of 10 Ave. S.W.
At about 2:45 a.m., emergency crews fielded numerous calls for a man in need of medical assistance.
EMS spokesman Stuart Brideaux said the 18-year-old found in the alley had multiple traumatic injuries and his condition deteriorated as he was rushed to hospital.
By 10 a.m. Strasser was dead.
