Three Canadians, including a 17-year-old woman, are being accused of attempting to import heroin into Australia, according to the Melbourne Herald Sun.

They were stopped at the Melbourne Airport on November 18 after an x-ray detected white powder in bags the group was trying to clear through customs, the report said. Tests suggested the white substance was heroin, leading to their arrests.

The group, joined by a 21-year-old man from the Netherlands, also includes a 19-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man.

The four face charges of importing a commercial quantity of a border controlled drug and if convicted could be sentenced to life in prison.
