CALGARY - A Grinch has stolen a Calgary boy’s Christmas, and left a single mom heartbroken.
Danielle Walker, awoke Sunday morning to find her car stolen from the 700 block of RundleRidge Dr. N.E., immediately reporting it to police.
But it wasn’t the missing vehicle that left her feeling cold, but the trunk full of Christmas presents — stowed safely away from the prying eyes of her five-year-old son — that are now gone.
“I can’t replace all that a month before Christmas,” said a distraught Walker, weeping as she told the Sun her story.
“If they don’t find my car, I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
In an attempt to ensure a Christmas surprise for her son Gavin, Walker decided to hide her cache of Lego toys and other items she’d purchased in the trunk of her 2007 dark green Pontiac G6.
“Also, I just got my son’s school pictures back and they’re in the car,” she said..
“His Christmas presents were in the trunk. I kept them all in the trunk so he wouldn’t find them.”
