TORONTO — Police say they’ve laid charges against a driver who struck and killed a four-year-old boy walking to school with his mother last month.

“Having charges laid is good news,” the boy’s aunt, Farida Noori, said Friday on a break at McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton, Ont., where she works in pediatrics.

A 78-year-old man has been charged with careless driving, making an improper turn and failure to yield to a pedestrian.

Police say Milad Sher-Ahmad was on his way to junior kindergarten at Artesian Dr. Public School in Mississauga on Nov. 20 when a car ran him over.
