OTTAWA — A female teen pimp who groomed and sexually exploited girls as young as 13 could have as few as nine months left to serve.
The 16-year-old pimp had pleaded guilty mid-trial to charges including human trafficking and making child porn as evidence mounted against her and two co-accused.
Part of the deal was that she’d be sentenced as a youth.
At her sentencing hearing Friday, the court heard a three-year term -- agreeable to Crown and defence lawyers -- is about the stiffest sanction available for a youth guilty of human trafficking.
But, with time served, a three-year sentence would leave her with just another nine months to go.
It is not what her victims -- three of whom were present in court -- wanted to hear.
“It doesn’t seem fair to me that as a victim I get a life of torment, while they get a chance to start over,” one of the girls wrote in a victim impact statement.
