LONDON, Ont. -- For the second time in less than a month, a local police investigation has led to the arrest of a child pornography suspect in the United States.

In this case, two child alleged victims in Louisiana were identified and are receiving help, said police.

"These were two kids who were vulnerable and were being sexually abused," said Const. Ken Steeves. "This is a huge success and another example of where we don't have borders with law enforcement where necessary," he said.

The arrest of a 20-year-old suspect in Jonesboro, La., came this week, after officers with London's cybercrime unit were able to identify a location where child abuse was taking place from electronic devices they'd seized from a suspect here earlier this year.

A forensic video technician grabbed some still images of a suspect and sent them to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which worked with the Jackson Parish Sheriff's office in Louisiana.

The office sent out a news release with the picture and received nearly 50 tips within days, later arresting the 20-year-old.

Finding and arresting perpetrators in the cyberworld of child porn is relatively rare, police say. But less than a month ago, under similar circumstances, local police worked with the Polk County Sheriff's office in Florida, resulting in an arrest there. In that case also, a child believed to be a victim was identified and given help.
