The names of two slain women whose bodies were found in Markham on Christmas Eve have been released but York Regional Police continue to be tight-lipped about other details of the grim double-murder.

David Howe, 46, of Penetanguishene walked into a police headquarters in Newmarket to both report an incident and turn himself in to police on Tuesday.

A action that led investigators to both an apartment building and a parking lot in Markham where the bodies of Chi-Ling Yip, 42, of Markham and Haimwanti Persaud, 35, of Ajax were found.

While police say both women knew Howe — who is now charged with first degree murder — they are not divulging much else about their relationship.

Const. Andy Pattenden wouldn’t say how the victims and accused knew each other, how or why the two women were killed, or what Howe was doing in Markham.
