Mexican authorities have identified the two Canadian women arrested in Mexico City for allegedly firebombing buildings as Amélie Pelletier and Fallon Poisson Rouiller.
The Attorney General's office said the women, along with Mexican Carlos Lopez Marin, were caught throwing explosives at an office of the Ministry of Communications and Transport and two car dealerships, Mexican newspaper Proceso reported.
The Canadians had a backpack containing Molotov cocktails, a prosecutor told the paper, and they face vandalism charges.
Proceso said the women carried no documentation and spoke little Spanish, but were verified as Canadian citizens by the Canadian embassy. Although it has not yet been revealed where they are from.
The motive for the Jan. 5 attack is unknown.
