CALGARY - Blood soaked a car parked in a northeast alley Wednesday night, now a crime scene after a man’s dead body was discovered inside.

Det. Steve Adair said police were called to investigate just after 8 p.m.

Adair said the death is suspicious but police haven’t yet labelled it a homicide.

A large amount of blood was spattered on a silver Toyota Corolla and the snow surrounding it in the alleyway. Much of the area was cordoned off by police tape.

Joel and Mavis Christie spent most of the night looking out at the scene from the window of their Harvest Hills home.

“(The police) came to the door and asked if we’d heard anything and then they said ‘Take your dog and stay inside because the K-9 unit is out,’” Joel said.

Mavis said when she shut the curtains about 6 p.m. the car was not there.
