WINNPEG — A man who used to sneak into people's homes at night and molest their children has been arrested, just days after being released from Headingley Correctional Institution.

Police said Monday that Ryan James Gabourie, 32, was arrested on a probation breach.

"Specifically, he had contact with an individual that he was not to have contact with," said Const. Jason Michalyshen.

"The person he was in contact with was not a minor; it was an individual who had a similar criminal past and one of the conditions of his release was not to have associations with anyone else who was involved with offences of sexual nature."

After being released on Jan. 9, Gabourie had only been out of jail for four days before he was arrested again on Jan. 12.

"At this time we are simply acknowledging that he is back in custody," Michalyshen said.

Gabourie, a high-risk sex offender who had been living in Winnipeg, was previously convicted of sexually molesting five boys, aged between five and 11.

Court heard Gabourie would choose homes where toys were visible in the yard, or could be seen by peering in through windows, then sneak in through unlocked windows or doors at night and sexually assault young boys in their beds while their parents were sleeping.
