TORONTO - A suspect in the killing of Anthony Smith — once linked to the infamous Rob Ford crack video — had his charges stayed Tuesday.

Crown attorney Mary Misener announced on Tuesday that the prosecution decided to stay a charge of accessory after the fact of manslaughter and two other offences against Hanad Mohamed, 23.

The charges had been laid in connection with the March 28, 2013, shooting of Smith, 21, outside the Loki Lounge in Toronto’s Entertainment District.

“This decision was taken after a careful examination of the evidence and with the close support of police investigators who worked very diligently,” Misener said at the Old City Hall courthouse.

She praised defence lawyers for the “patient and professional manner in which they conducted themselves.”

The Crown had alleged Mohamed acted as a getaway car driver after the shooting. He declined to be interviewed.
