MONTREAL — A Canadian man who was killed in Florida on the weekend was robbed for money investigators believe was used to buy crack, a police affidavit says.
Domenico Perruccio, 58, of the Montreal area was stabbed to death in Hollywood, Fla., north of Miami, on Sunday.
The affidavit quotes Keith Wadsworth, the investigator assigned to the case, who says Perruccio was attacked with a knife inside the Winter Haven Towers.
His bloodied body was found outside the building.
The court document says a bloody knife with a black handle was found not far from the body.
A witness reported seeing a man who resembled the suspect buying $300 worth of crack nearby, the affidavit says.
Twane Dobard, 38, turned himself in to police Monday.
Neighbours say Perruccio had lived in a friend's condo for two weeks and was waiting for his wife to arrive from Canada for a cruise.
Winter Haven Towers is popular among Canadian snowbirds.
