TORONTO — With the victim of a 2012 jailhouse beating alleging his attack was orchestrated by Toronto's mayor, detectives investigating Rob Ford and his pals since last summer will no doubt be taking a closer look at a much publicized video that shows the civic leader inebriated and vowing to "kill that f---ing guy."

A Toronto Police Services source confirmed that officers involved in Project Brazen 2, an operation led by veteran Det.-Sgt. Gary Giroux, have been looking into the secretly recorded footage since it was publicized in November.

Investigators have been trying to determine where the footage was recorded, by whom and under what circumstances, among other things.

Some possible answers to those questions surfaced this week when Scott MacIntyre — the former common-law husband of the mayor's sister Kathy — filed a potentially damning $1.5-million civil suit naming Rob Ford, his former Don Bosco Eagles assistant coach, a former player on the high school football team and the minister of correctional services as defendants.
