TORONTO ─ Police have charged a 35-year-old Toronto man with first-degree murder after the death of his daughter, Evangeline Adotey, Monday night.

Jason Adotey, 35, also faces attempted murder charges, police announced Thursday, for injuries caused to his son, 7, at the Howard Johnson near Warden Ave. and Hwy. 401.

Homicide Det.-Sgt. Pauline Gray says they still don't know how Evangeline was killed but they have enough evidence to charge her dad.

Adotey's son, 7, has been released from hospital, Gray said.

"There are heroes in this," Gray said, explaining good police work saved the life of the little boy and the accused.
