MONTREAL - The RCMP said Monday that three former federal tax officials are among seven people who have been arrested in an alleged bribery scam.
The defendants face various charges including bribery, conspiracy, fraud, breach of trust by a public official and fraud against the government.
Mounties have spent the past six years investigating alleged misconduct in the Montreal office of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). In all, 15 people, including eight tax employees, have been arrested on 142 charges.
Ex-CRA officials Americo Comparelli, 44, Adriano Furgiuele, 45, and Antonio Girardi, 49, were among those nabbed in the latest sweep.
