Under pressure from RCMP brass, terror investigators left key Arabic translations in the hands of an untrained, unqualified former security guard, a court heard Wednesday.

Const. Driss Drissi quickly found himself under attack by defence lawyers for London, Ont. pathologist Dr. Khurram Syed Sher, 31, who is on trial for conspiring to facilitate terrorist activity.

Not only were Drissi's qualifications lacking, but he also put a prejudicial "spin" on Arab words he translated, defence lawyer Michael Edelson alleged.
