TORONTO -- A trio of gun-toting bandits is sought after an elderly couple was bound and held hostage during a frightening 90-minute home invasion Tuesday.

Durham Regional Police say the seniors’ ordeal began around 2:45 p.m. when three men armed with handguns burst through the “unlocked” front door of their home in the Rossland Rd. W.-Westney Rd. N. area.

“The two elderly homeowners, both in their early 70s, were ordered to sit down and they were tied up with electrical cords from the house,” police spokesman Jodi MacLean said Wednesday.
