A Florida couple is accused of taking their children to play in the woods, then abandoning them.
Michael and Sarah Butcher, both 30, were arrested after police found crystal meth in their truck's glove box after the vehicle was illegally parked in a private RV park, ABC News reports.
The couple initially told police they were brother and sister. While they were being held in custody, police received a report three children had been found walking in the woods and they were "very dirty, hungry and cold."
The children, aged 10, 8 and 6, told police their parents, named Michael and Sarah, had driven them to a wooded area where they had been camping and while the children played in the woods, the parents drove off, leaving behind only Michael's shoes.
The Daily Mountain Eagle in Jasper, Ala., reported Michael Butcher is a former police officer from that town.
