NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. -- A quick-thinking 14-year-old girl was able to foil her would-be abductor by alerting passersby to her plight.

Court heard the teen was at a park on Aug. 11 when she was approached by a bearded, six-foot-two, 300-pound man.

He asked her if she wanted a drink and if she wanted to "have fun."

She declined, and the man grabbed her by the wrist and shoulder and walked her from the park to near his home -- a route of 2.8 kilometres.

As she was being led down a busy road, the terrified girl realized motorists were looking at her with concern, so she began to walk slowly and deliberately and demand loudly: "Where are we going?" in hopes of attracting attention.
