Two 18-year-old men accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl whom they allegedly kept in a basement for two days have been identified by police and formally charged in Halifax.
Doreze Marvin Beals and Andre Jerome Gray have each been charged with human trafficking, kidnapping, unlawful confinement, uttering threats, sexual assault causing bodily harm, gang sexual assault, sexual interference, and procuring illicit sex.
Beals has also been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and breach of probation.
Police responded to a report of shots fired Thursday night. At the scene, a girl told officers she had been held in the basement of a nearby home for two days and had been sexually assaulted. She said she was able to escape and call for help.
