EDMONTON — A hate crimes unit is investigating a massive flaming swastika on the side of an Alberta highway in the wee hours Monday.
Edmonton police, along with fire crews, were called shortly before 1 a.m. after a motorist reported seeing boards shaped into swastika burning along Anthony Henday Dr.
"It was a wooden structure, a 2-by-4 or 1-by-4 wooden structure, lit a fire," Staff Sgt. Todd Leycock said. "It's shocking."
The province recognized Hate Crime Awareness Day April 9.
