A veteran Edmonton police officer has launched a $1.1-million lawsuit against Police Chief Rod Knecht, alleging she has been abused and harassed by fellow officers. The statement of claim, filed on behalf of Const. Rhonda Sargent in Court of Queen's Bench on April 14, alleges Edmonton Police Association president Tony Simioni yelled at her and became verbally abusive while she was under the hospital care of doctors on April 1, 2013. Then, after she had gone home and was resting as per her doctor's orders, she was allegedly abruptly woken up by three members of the EPS tactical unit who were in full gear and pointing their assault rifles directly at her as she lay naked and face-down on her bed.
