CALGARY - Four men have been charged with a series of audacious, take-over style grocery store robberies, following an investigation that unravelled a group allegedly plotting more heists.

The quartet was charged after a five-month investigation dubbed Operation VOLCOM, which targetted those suspected to be involved in a series of take-over style robberies between September and November of last year.

In each of the six heists, anywhere between two to four culprits, masked and brandishing guns, knives or other weapons, would hit the stores at closing time, taking control of employees and robbing them as well as the safe on the premises.
