A series of "significant electrical hazards" discovered at Eastern Ontario schools has resulted in hefty fines for two local contractors and charges against a third man.

The Electrical Safety Authority has corrected the faulty work -- which was initially performed at 13 schools within the Conseil Des Ecoles Catholiques du Centre-Est in Ottawa, Kingston and Pembroke -- but the investigation is ongoing.

In April, Mario Giroux, owner of Construction G, pleaded guilty to 13 counts of performing electrical work without a valid licence, eight counts of failing to apply for inspection and one count of leaving a site in an "unsafe condition."
