Winnipeg murder suspect nabbed trying to catch Toronto-bound train

WINNIPEG -- A city man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for murder was arrested by Sudbury, Ont., police trying to catch a Toronto-bound train Thursday.

Marcus James Richard, 21, is charged with first-degree murder in the weekend shooting death of a man outside an Exchange District nightclub.

Richard is also charged with two counts of attempted murder and aggravated assault. Arrangements are being made to return him to Winnipeg.

Rustom Vito Paclipan, 23, was shot at about 2 a.m. Sunday outside the Opera Ultralounge, at Main Street and Bannatyne Avenue, and later died in hospital.

Two other men, ages 18 and 24, also suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting, police said.

Police say the shooting followed a confrontation between two groups of people on the street outside the bar. They believe the firearm used in the killing was brought to the scene by a 16-year-old buy.

The 16-year-old was taken into custody at 6 p.m. Tuesday and charged
