A 16-year-old Ottawa boy faces more than 60 charges in connection with an international cyber crime investigation that police say caused swat teams to respond to false calls.

Coined "swatting," it is a term used online to refer to "engaging emergency services with false calls to affect revenge on an individual or organization by causing the response of armed swat teams to active shooter scenarios or bomb threats," said police.

The boy is suspected in at least 30 cases in North America.
