TORONTO — A man and a woman face numerous charges for allegedly beating a 16-year-old girl into submission and forcing her at gunpoint to prostitute herself in Toronto for many months.

Officers from Toronto Police sex crimes unit began investigating allegations of human trafficking and juvenile prostitution on April 8, Police said.

“It is alleged that a girl, 16, was approached and recruited to become a prostitute,” Const. David Hopkinson said. “She was transported, from another city in the GTA, to a hotel in Toronto by two people.”

He said the two accused allegedly threatened the teen victim’s life and forced her into prostitution for eight months.

“She was beaten and pistol-whipped when she attempted to leave,” Hopkinson alleged.

He claims the young girl was “shuttled around” to an assortment of hotels all over southern Ontario where she was made to “engage” in sexual acts for money.
