WINNIPEG - A Winnipeg handyman who sexually molested a 15-year-old girl should go to prison for four years, a judge was told Tuesday.
David Locke, 59, was convicted after trial last year of three counts of sexual interference and one count of invitation to sexual touching.
Court heard the incidents occurred in October 2010 when Locke was working at the victim's home while her parents were away and included oral sex and full intercourse.
In a victim impact statement the now 18-year-old woman said she dropped out of school as a result of the incidents, lost friends and continues to suffer from emotional problems, including "paralyzing social anxiety."
Locke "took my adolescent years away from me which is something I will never get back," she said.
Crown attorney Sharyl Thomas argued the 40-year age gap between Locke and the victim was an aggravating factor the court should take into consideration.
