OTTAWA — A Gatineau, Que., man is accused of sexually assaulting his intellectually disabled daughter over a 14-year period.
Cops say they arrested the man in February after his daughter, now in her 30s, came forward with the allegations.
The alleged abuse began in 1991 when the daughter was 18. She was “in a situation of dependency with her father” according to cops, who say the woman now lives with another family member.
The woman first confided in a family member and later went to police with the allegations.
The father, 68, faces three counts of sexual assault by a person in a position of authority to a vulnerable person, incest and sexual assault.
He is currently free on bail and is prohibited from making any kind of contact with his daughter.
