Mounties have charged an Alberta woman in relation to a hit-and-run crash that killed a longboarder last week.

On the evening of May 20, 18-year-old Trystan Sorensen and a friend were longboarding along Hwy. 592 just west of Penhold, approximately 115 km north of Calgary.

Innisfail RCMP reported Sorensen was struck and killed by a blue Chrysler/Dodge SUV driven by a white female.

Sorensen’s friend was not injured.

The following day, a Dodge Durango was reported stolen and was soon found burnt in a farmer’s field east of Innisfail.

On Saturday, the registered owner and alleged driver was contacted.

She turned herself in to Innisfail Mounties.

Jessica Masyk, 25, of Penhold, is charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident, public mischief and driving while unauthorized.

She was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
