OTTAWA - A Cornwall woman who gave birth while in an Ottawa jail cell in 2012 is in trouble with the law again.

Julie Bilotta, 27, faces charges of theft under $5,000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace.

Cornwall police say on Thursday, a woman went into a Brookdale Ave. store, selected some merchandise and then left without making any attempt to pay for the items. Police came, and after "a short foot chase," arrested the woman.

She was released and is to appear in court on July 10.

Bilotta first made headlines in 2012 when she gave birth to son Gionni while in a cell at the Ottawa-Carleton Regional Detention Centre, as guards stood by. She claimed her cries for help went ignored for hours.
