An Ottawa man accused of being a serial sexual assaulter, is back in jail and will make a court appearance Monday afternoon.

Ottawa police charged Gavin Sean Griffiths on Saturday with three counts of sexual assault, two counts of mischief and breaching probation.

He appeared in court briefly via video Sunday and will appear again the same way Monday at 1:30 p.m.

Griffiths had served time for nearly identical crimes that "terrorized the women of this city" two years ago, in the words of Crown prosecutor Stephen Donoghue.

The charges come just a year after earning a 23-month sentence for his previous infractions.

Police allege Griffiths was grabbing women as they walked along bike paths in the New Edinburgh and North River Rd. area, then attempting to pull their pants down.

After several women gave cops a description of the suspect -- a white man in his 20s riding a bright yellow bike -- patrol officers watched and waited for him.
