TORONTO - Investigators are anxious to get the increasingly violent Mummy Bandit under wraps following yet another bank heist in the city.

The prolific bank robber is now thought to be responsible for 11 heists in the last nine months, Toronto Police said Saturday.

“He’s definitely got our attention,” said Staff-Insp. Mike Earl, who heads the holdup squad. “We need to get this guy off the street before someone gets hurt.”

The crook first came onto the police radar after robbing a bank at gunpoint last Oct. 5 wearing either makeup or a scarf to conceal his face, which is how he earned his monicker.

Since then, the Mummy Bandit has hit 10 more banks — most in the Trinity-Bellwoods area — becoming bolder and more aggressive with each heist, Earl said, adding he no longer bothers with a disguise.
