MONTREAL — Police believe a 40-year-old man who was stabbed to death in Montreal on Monday night was the victim of a violent end to a love triangle.

A 34-year-old man was taken into custody.

The victim was found in an alley shortly after 9 p.m., with knife wounds to the chest. He was taken to hospital, where he later died.

"It is possible this crime is linked to a love triangle, at least that is one of the proposed theories currently being considered by the investigators on the scene," Cost. Simon Delorme, spokesman for the Montreal police, said.

This marks the 13th homicide of the year in Montreal.
